WWD has named Eugenia Miranda Richman editor in chief, effective Jan. 16.
She joins WWD from SheKnows, where she was editor in chief.
In her new role Richman will oversee the WWD editorial team in the ongoing development of its award-winning business content, and guide the evolution and expansion of its web, print, social, video and e-commerce initiatives as the brand continues its mission to connect the global fashion, retail and beauty industries through insightful news and analysis.
Richman will report to James Fallon, editorial director of WWD and Fairchild Media Group.
“I am honored and humbled to take on such a responsibility — the digital evolution of a legendary New York institution,” said Richman. “WWD’s legacy and authority in the fashion industry is unrivaled, and I look forward to working with Jim to amplify it to a wider audience. With our complementary backgrounds, Jim and I will be able to diversify the brand and business to its fullest potential. It’s a very exciting moment for WWD.”
“Over the course of her seven-and-a-half years at PMC and most recently SheKnows, Eugenia has successfully grown a robust e-commerce business, created an award-winning video strategy and elevated the look and feel of the brand,” said Jay Penske, chairman, founder and chief executive officer of WWD parent Penske Media Corp. “Eugenia leads with dedication and passion for her work and I look forward to watching what she does in this role.”
“We cannot be more excited to welcome Eugenia as editor in chief of WWD and are eager for her to bring her deep expertise and extensive background in digital media to help continue the digital transformation of WWD, which is already seeing historic highs in traffic,” said Fallon. “Working with Eugenia, the goal is to reinforce WWD’s global authority, grow such new initiatives as WWD Weekend and reach even more readers and followers across all of our platforms.”
“We are thrilled to have Eugenia joining the Fairchild team,” said Amanda Smith, Fairchild Media Group president. “As WWD expands and innovates its product offerings across platforms and categories, her leadership and vast experience in building brand communities and connecting with audiences in new and innovative ways will be a huge asset to the future of the brand, and to all of our partners. I am excited for the endless possibilities this represents.”
