People are looking to be “just Ken” for Halloween.
Throughout the “Barbie” movie, the character played by Ryan Gosling went through many outfit changes, including the popular “I am Kenough” hoodie, and people are looking replicate Ken’s style for Halloween. His Mojo Dojo Casa House outfit, in particular, is gaining attention, and has raked in 21.5 million views on TikTok (for Mojo Dojo Casa House Ken Costume).
Spoiler alert: In the film, after Ken returns to Barbieland from the real world, he attempts to introduce patriarchy into the formerly matriarchal society where the Barbies were supreme. This includes taking over Barbie’s Dreamhouse and remaking it in his image, turning it into the Mojo Dojo Casa House.
Ken’s outfit in this scene includes him in a faux fur white statement coat, a horse pendant, cat-eye sunglasses, a lightning headband, fingerless black gloves, a fanny pack with “Ken” emblazoned on it and black pants. The signature outfit in the movie was also topped off with three Tag Heuer gold watches — Ryan Gosling, who played Ken in the “Barbie” movie, has been a brand ambassador for the watch company since 2021.
Independent product companies have taken to TikTok to showcase their Mojo Dojo Casa Style pieces ahead of Halloween. The site mojodojocasahouse.shop has unveiled a horse pendant and Ken fanny pack that are replicas of what Ken wore in the Mojo Dojo Casa House scene.
The most popular piece from the whole costume is the white faux fur jacket. Etsy seller Jenny Burns has created a limited-edition Ken-inspired faux fur priced at $750 currently available on her Etsy shop.
With Halloween approaching, the hashtag is expected to rack up more views, and there’s more Ken Mojo Dojo Casa House cosplay on the horizon.
In September, Boohoo predicted the most popular pop culture-themed costumes for Halloween 2023. To no one’s surprise, after the success of Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” movie, which grossed more than $1 billion at the box office, Barbie and Ken were among this year’s most expected Halloween costumes.
