Ubah Hassan arrived on the red carpet for the 2023 Angel Ball in New York City on Monday, bringing glamour to the red carpet. The Somali model wore a black velvet corset gown with a crystal-embellished pattern of a bird carrying a flower. Designed by Zang Toi, the gown featured a cascading crystal detail extending from the skirt of the dress.

Zang Toi has been featured in previous seasons of “RHONY,” appearing on Season Two of the show where cast member Jill Zarin attended his fashion show luncheon. In 2019, Toi celebrated the 30th anniversary of his brand and spoke with WWD about how he got his start in the fashion industry, from coming to America with $300 in his pocket to graduating from the Parsons School of Design.

After suffering a decline in ratings, the show’s producer, Andy Cohen, revealed at BravoCon 2022 that “RHONY” would be getting a do-over. “We were looking for a group of friends who were actually connected. Women with interesting jobs — we have Brooklyn, TriBeCa, all over town. Really cool jobs, fashion, PR, model, influencer, all different types. Their energy and humor is great,” Cohen said at BravoCon.

The annual Angel Ball benefits cancer research. Farfetch, Lorraine Schwartz, Cincora Tequila and Mielle Organics sponsored this year’s event. Honorees at this year’s event included hospitality entrepreneur Richie Akiva, philanthropist Elizabeth Elting and Mielle Organics founder and chief executive officer Monique Rodriguez.
